Fall Dates Voepel Property Management

It is finally getting cooler outside and with it comes activities and festivities for the season. What better way to spend time in this amazing weather than with a significant other! Here are some ideas to take full advantage of this Fall in Kansas City and go out on a date. We’ll start with some places to start the day out and then end with some night ideas.

1. Cider Donuts – Dunn’s Cider Mill

9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday until Thanksgiving. Located at 17003 Missouri Route D in Belton.

Start the day off right with the best cider donuts in the world! Dunn’s Cider Mill opens at 9 a.m. and expect a long line from the time they open till about mid-day. The donuts are made right in front of you and are then either cinnamon sugar dusted, which are the best ones, and set out in the glass case in the front (if they have any left to fill it; they sell so fast). The donuts in the morning, at any place, are warm and light and have a crisp edge around the sides. Bring some milk for breakfast or buy some of their apple cider for now and later!

Fresh apples in an orchard is a great way to spend a morning together. The “U-Pick” options are a real treat as you and your significant other get to spend time together picking the ripe and right apples for the each of you. Each orchard can have a multitude of different types of apples, so make sure to pick the right one you are looking for. Here is a list of “U-Pick” orchards in the Kansas City area!

Schweizer Orchards – St. Joseph, Mo

Cider Hill Family Orchard – Kansas City, Kan

Alldredge Orchards – Platte City, Mo

Wagon Wheel Orchard – Gardner, Ks

The fall foliage throughout Kansas City is about to hit us this early/mid-October, and the best way to enjoy the leaves changing is by taking a bike ride! Renting a B-Cycle, the Plaza’s bike sharing system, only costs $7 all day, and there are multiple parks in the area to check out! Loose Park if you’re south and Cliff Drive Scenic Byway to the north are some great examples!

5. Canoeing

With the leaves changing and the temperature not dipping into the 40’s just yet, take in the full beauty of the season with a canoe or kayak trip together. The trip can either be a long one, which we suggest going to South Missouri for that, or a short one. Our local lakes in KC have streams connected to all of them to explore. We suggest the streams around Longview Lake and Lake Jacomo!

6. Cook and Bake Together for the Season

Finally we can bake and cook anything we want in the kitchen without burning up the home! Take your culinary skills to the next level with going to a class at the Sundry. There are a bunch of classes and usually every weekend has a couples cooking class. If going to a class is too expensive, you can always grab a recipe from online for Autumn!

10. Bonfire

There is no better way to end a great day with a bonfire. Some warm apple cider, hot cocoa, s’mores, hot soup, apples and anything and in-between you slow roast and talk the night away with your significant other. Bring a warm blanket, because your back will still be cold even though your face is not. Also, make sure you have something to sit on. Always check if it is okay to have a fire in the area as well, there may be a draught in effect.

We hope some of these ideas you will take to heart and use them for your next exciting date in Kansas City with your significant other. Remember to check times and plan out on drive times to each, and never be discouraged if there are a lot of other people at your date location; these are great ideas and everyone wants to enjoy the season. Have a perfect Autumn!
